In the space of only 3 months livelihoods have come under grave threat as a result of Covid-19. To help support as many artists as possible, we are really excited to announce today the launch of the ‘Artist Relief Fund’.
With the impact of the coronavirus on people’s health, state of mind and means of income, we are launching an initiative to help UK Christian and Gospel artists at this time. The creative industry is one of the hardest hit as the gig economy has shut down. Churches are closed. Festivals and concerts are cancelled. Theatres and music venues are shuttered. In just 3 months livelihoods and careers have been put on hold indefinitely.
Through our work with the UK Christian Chart, we’ve had first-hand experience and accounts of the effect it’s had on the music industry. This has placed a burden on our hearts to give a helping hand to UK Christian and Gospel music artists at such a hard time. Many of these conversations have given us great insight into their musical journeys and highlight the challenges of coronavirus. It is this knowledge that makes it impossible for us to just sit by and do nothing.
We hope that you can join us and rise to this challenge. Luke Wareham, who is helping A Step FWD to manage and coordinate this relief effort says ‘as a new Independent artist I know first-hand how hard things can be in the Christian music scene. The journey can be difficult, at the best of times with limited resources and funds. I feel it is really important we show artists in the UK Christian music scene how much we value and appreciate the music they are producing that helps us all in our daily lives’.
With your support, we are aiming to raise in excess of £5000 to support this effort. We see a real need to help artists and musicians who are struggling during this period and hope to achieve this through the creation of an Artist Relief Fund which is going live today – click on the link below and share with your friends and family.
